about

A song about trying not to lose everything you have due to taxes, debts and similar. When I wrote it, I was afraid it would have become meaningless with the passing of the crisis... unfortunately, it's still very topical today

lyrics

Payday is getting close: mr. collect stop chasing me
payday is getting closer: oh, mister, please, stop chasing me!
you can take all of my money if you leave me something to eat.

Like a girl pushing for a wedding ring
mr. debt collector, you never let me breathe
oh, please, please: have some mercy on me!
I can work until I drop if that puts me off your list…

When I was a kid and thought of the man I’d be
my heart grew bigger and so did my grin
now my life is spent in shame and misery
look now, won’t you let me be?
You can take my house and money
if you promise that I’ll be free.

I’m slaving all my life away and you’re never pleased
you take my dignity away and I’m at your feet
look now mr. debt collector
you are going to kill me
won’t you have a little mercy on me?
You can have everything you want
if you stop playing with me.

I called my friends from all over town
they say I won’t have peace until you are around
Won’t you? Won’t you release me?
Payday is getting closer and you’ll have the blood you need.

Payday’s getting closer: mr. collector stop chasing me.
Payday is getting closer: mister, please, just let me be!
If my life ain’t worth enough then my soul might satisfy thee…
